Youth Learn to Row 2024

Sandy Bay Rowing Club - Youth Learn to Row Program is a six-week program that you can attend on either Saturday or Sunday mornings.  It is designed to teach the basic skills of rowing and is suited to anyone 13-18 years old wanting to give rowing a try for the first time.

Most sessions will be on the water; however your safety is our first priority and there might be times when the weather is not suitable for rowing, these sessions will move into our gym where we have ergos/rowing machines for some indoor rowing.

The sessions will be held every Saturday & Sunday 9.00 - 10.30am until 3rd & 4th August.

Where: Sandy Bay Rowing Club, Marieville Esplanade, Sandy Bay

Cost: $100.00 (This includes Rowing Tas Registration for appropriate insurances)

What to wear:

  • Wear close fitting warm clothes eg. Long sleeve tops with gym tights /bike shorts.  It is winter and can be quite cold on the water so make sure you layer up! Close fitting clothes are recommended so that your clothes don’t get caught in the moving seat or on your oars.

  • Thick socks for wearing in the boat.

  • Slides or Crocs are handy for carrying boats to the water.

  • Bring runners just in case we are in the gym on the ergo.

  • Bring a change of warm clothes and a towel just in case you get wet… something we try to avoid but it is better to be prepared!
